Riders Infant School provides a warm and inclusive environment where pupils feel safe and valued, particularly in the early years. Strengths
What inspectors noted positively.
- Staff build warm, trusting relationships and place pupils' wellbeing at the center of their work.
- Early years children benefit from a well-designed learning space and are generally well prepared for Year 1.
- Phonics teaching is systematic and well-sequenced, helping children build early reading confidence.
Things parents should investigate
Neutral topics you may wish to explore.
- Inconsistency in how gaps in basic skills like reading, writing, and mathematics are identified and addressed.
- High rates of persistent absence, particularly for pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND).
- Variations in the quality of staff interactions in the early years regarding language development.
Safeguarding
The safeguarding standards are met, with leaders establishing an open culture where concerns are actively identified and managed, ensuring pupils feel safe.
Leadership
Leadership has stabilized after a period of uncertainty, and while new leaders have gained staff confidence and provided extensive training, many improvement initiatives are in the early stages and yet to show full impact.
